Yes....35 kilometres not including a 3 km error. Our longest one day walk ever. The guide book we are using said we had a 20 km trek ahead of us today. 20 km is easy. 5 hours easy. Luckily Sid packed a small sandwich. We started out at 8:15 and arrived at our destination just after 5. No sign of other walkers - we did meet one guy on a tractor and another bloke on a backhoe. No villages either - we each started with one litre of water - Sid had to refill his at one of the streams. So far I only have just the one tonail turning black - Sid also has an owie on one of his feet
It was a nice enough walk. I now know that I have to cross check our guide book with the website.
The blackberries are ripe and abundant!.
Here we see a trees root system from the underside
A tidy Irish home
Always watching for the way markers
Some of our view
For a while we are high above the Ring of Kerry highway
This is me hanging on for dear life. Very droppy offy
The body of water in the background is the Dingle Bay
We come across a leprechaun house
Our first siting of our destination. Not visible until 4:45!
We check into the Sive Hostel
There are two rooms in this sweet shelter , we have the far one and of all things Miss USA has the other room.
It was a brutal day - pretty sure someone carried me the last 5 k. We are taking tomorrow as a day of rest- our shoes are soaked again - walking through bog is disgusting.
