Sneem to Kenmare 26 km October 12

Last evening we enjoyed a pint of Guinness at a small pub that was packed with locals watching Ireland play France in the rugby World Cup quarter finals.  It was a treat to share in the passion of the country ( Ireland won btw)  We left the pub and went to a quieter venue where we each had some kind of fresh white fish stuffed with fresh crab with a white sauce and capers. Excellent!

For breakfast we enjoy the traditional fare.  Most of these B & Bs are beautiful homes.  Our hostess Maureen says they lived in Boston for 20 years and decided to come back to Ireland.  She recommends a place for us to stay in Kenmare and calls for a reservation there.  She gives us a note with the name of the place and the phone #. She says Bernadette will come and get us if we are unable to complete today's walk.  The price for the B & Bs are between 30-35 euros pp

After breakfast we give our feet some tlc with poysporin, band aids, blister band aids all held together with duct tape and slathered with Vaseline.

Our feet are dry for a few hours
We notice this cat watching us while sitting on the hedge!
We pass by a bat shelter and think of Lynne (kbts tenant)

We find a great spot for lunch
Sid lifts his feet trying to dry out his socks
More vista
For a while we walk on the N 70.  We are tired of wet feet.  The N 70 is the Ring of Kerry hi way .  Sid says it makes the road from Gull Lake to Bentley look like a freeway
We finally reach our destination at 4pm
Yesterday we heard news of the untimely  passing of my cousin near Rycroft when the grain truck he was driving rolled. So very sad....for so very many....RIP Virgil
