We soon found the way makers for the Kerry Way
At the last possible stop on the way out Sid insisted that we pick up something to eat - just in case we didn't come across anything - we purchased two ham and cheese pastries. Bless his heart - we in fact didn't come across anywhere to eat or buy food until 2:15. We were both pretty weary by then!
Just out of Kilarney we passed the Muckross House - where Queen Victoria visited in 1861
We walked along Lough Leane ..very beautiful
And ended up at the Torc Falls
We crossed the Torc Mountain (up and down) and came to a main road near the Derrcunnihy Church
This was our path and view through the valley
We are staying at the Shamrock Bed and Breakfast in Black Valley
Black Valley is one of the most remote areas in Ireland and amoung the last to receive electricity - in the mid 1970's. We stayed dry until about 2:30 - it showered just hard enough for us to get soaking wet by the time we got to the B & B. Dear Shiela took all of our clothes and put them in the dryer!
We had coffee upon arrival and she made us Irish stew for supper. Shelia also mentioned that today was the first rain for two weeks....

I've just found I've missed reading all your blogs. Not sure how that happened. Reading them is like redoing our walk. We stayed at the Shamrock too. There was a sweet old lady doing the dinners and she kept forgetting what we'd ordered. It became quite funny.
ReplyDeleteWe had the same food problem but, luckily, had taken lunch. Lord Brandon's was closed and we were famished by the time we got to the Shamrock as we'd eaten lunch at Torc Falls.
